This Privacy Policy describes the policies of Physicians Insurance Agency of Massachusetts, Inc. on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information that we collect when you use our website (https://piam.com/), (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you are consenting to the collection, use and disclosure of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to the same, please do not access or use the Site.
As used herein, the words “User,” “you,” and “your” mean users of the Site and the words “we,” “our,” and “PIAM” mean Physicians Insurance Agency of Massachusetts, Inc. the owner and operator of the Site.
The Site and our products and services are designed solely for residents of the United States. Although we maintain appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards for protection of the security, confidentiality and integrity of all electronic data or information submitted to the Site, the Site has not been certified as compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which covers personal information of residents of the European Union. In the course of obtaining a quote or registering for a seminar, you may choose to provide us with nonpublic personal information. This requires the input of information and preferences that may include, but is not limited to, details such as your name, address (postal and email), telephone number, demographic information, current and desired insurance policy information, and other information about your professional board membership and certifications. Information you provide in your request to obtain a quote may be provided to the insurance company to obtain the quote and/or when you purchase an insurance policy so they can establish and administer you as a policyholder.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information, except as set forth below.
We may disclose information to persons or companies that perform services on our behalf and to other financial institutions with which we have joint marketing agreements. Our affiliates are companies with which we either share common ownership or have a contractual agreement along with a vendor privacy policy.
We may also release your personally identifiable information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law, defend ourselves against any legal claims, enforce our site policies, or to protect our rights, the rights of others, property, or safety.
Information Collected Automatically
We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. Like many websites, we use “cookies,” (alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer to allow our system to recognize your computer) and we obtain certain types of information (e.g., IP Address, Click-stream, browser type and version, operating system, platform, and date and time of access) when your web browser accesses ActuateInsurance.com. We use this information to evaluate use patterns so future modifications to the site will respond to site user’s needs.

We endeavor to keep your personal information confidential and protected against unauthorized access, misuse, or alteration with commercially reasonable physical, technical, and administrative measures. We cannot guarantee the security of electronic data nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted.

Storage and Retention of Information
We retain non-personally identifiable information collected from Site visitors indefinitely. We retain personally identifiable information collected from you only as long as necessary for the purpose for which you provide it or as required by law. After a transaction is complete, your private information (credit card information, social security number, financial data, etc.) is never stored on our servers. We may maintain and process such information directly or indirectly in one or more databases in the United States.

Children Under the Age of 18
The Site is not intended for children under 18 years of age. No one under age 18 may provide any information to or on the website. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are under 18, do not use or provide any information on this website or on or through any of its features. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information.

We have taken the necessary measures to ensure that we are in compliance with The Federal Trade Commission’s CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. If at any time you would like to discontinue receiving email messages, we include detailed instructions on how to unsubscribe at the bottom of every email.

Governing Law & Jurisdiction
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to principles of the conflicts of laws. Any disputes relating to this Privacy Policy shall be resolved exclusively in the State or Federal Courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, and you and PIAM both consent to the jurisdiction of such courts for any such disputes.
